Se on loppu nyt!

Se lomarupeama menikin niin, että vain vilahti. Hyvin vähän olen kotosalla ollut ja kun olenkin erehtynyt oleilemaan, niin sisätiloissa on ollut vähintään 29 astetta (yölläkin), joten mitään ei vain ole kyennyt tekemään, lukemista lukuunottamatta. Mutta koska olen jo loman aluksi lupaillut crazy quiltiani esitellä, niin tässäpä sitä. :)

My first vacation is now over, went by so fast that I didn't really even recognize it. I've been really little at home and when I've been at home I just couldn't have done anything for the high temperature, 29 degrees at nights too, so all I've been able to do is read. But for I promised at the start of my vacation to show my crazy quilt, so here it is. :)

Tämän kirjomista olen hiukan aloitellut (sitä mukaa kun jo aloitetuista langoista löytyi jokin sopiva sävy tähän palaan), alla hiukkasen kuvaa pistoista.

Tässä palassa olen edennyt jo pidemmälle, jotenkin kummassa iski inspiraatio, varmaankin osittain kärpässienen takia. :D

In this piece I've gotten more done. Somehow got inspiration, maybe partly because of the fly agaric. :D

 

Vaikka itse sanonki, mutta nuo lampaat olivat jotenkin mahtava päähänpisto. :D

Those sheep were somehow a great whim even if I say it myself. :D

Kärpässieni on kirjailtu valkoisella fluorisoivalla kirjontalangalla, en vielä ole kokeillut josko toimii. :D

The fly agaric has been sewn with fluorescence embroidery yarn (white), haven't tried yet if it works. :D

Tämä on toinen tekemäni pala tähän täkkiin, ensimmäisen kokeilin koneella ommellen ja päätin, että teen kaiken käsin. Tämä on kasattu jo joskus pari vuotta sitten ja kirjailut varmaan vuoden takaa.

This is second piece I've made for this blanket, the first one I made by machine and decided I want to do everything by hand. This has been pieced maybe about 2 years ago and most embroidery been done maybe year ago.

Näiden valmiiksi kasattujen lisäksi sain juuri loman alkaessa yhden vielä valmiiksi, mutta nyt ei ollut kamerassa akkua, joten sen vilautan sitten joskus toiste. :)
Kaikissa näissä on tilkut ja materiaalit aivan sekalaista, löytyy paloja koulutöistä jääneistä roippeista, korjauksista jääneistä paloista ja ihan vain tilkkuina ostettuja, puuvillaa, villaa, pellavaa, keinokuituja ja muuntokuituja. Oletettavasti ei tule olemaan kovinkaan vesipesun kestävä, jos siis koskaan saan tätä valmiiksi asti. :P

I got finished one more piece just when I started my vacation but now my cameras battery is dead so I'll show it some other time. :)
In all of these the pieces and materials are really mixed, there's scraps from my school work, some patches from my repairs and some just been bought in small pieces, cotton, wool, flax, syntethic fibers and cellulose fibers. Most likely this won't be that waterwash durable, I mean if I actually get this finished some day. :P

Olen tässä muutenkin yrittänyt tuhota kangasvarastojani ja leikellyt pikku hiljaa valmiiksi suikaleiksi
kankaita, joille en äkkiseltään keksi muuta tarvetta tai ovat sen verran vähiä määriä. Nämä ovat kaikki puuvillaa. Ja pakko tehdä näin, tai tiedän, etten saa koskaan käytettyä näitä materiaaleja. :)

I've also been trying to use up my fabric stock and little by little cut my fabrics to ready strips. These are all fabrics that were so small pieces or didn't come up with any other use for them at the moment. All of these are cotton. And I really have to do this, for I know, othervise I will never be able to get all my materials used. :)

Voitin tuossa keväällä myöskin täällä blogiarvonnassa lohdutuspalkinnon (vain yhdellä meni pieleen!) ja sain nyytin räsylankaa. :)
Kovasti kyseltiin, mitä väriä mahtaisin haluta pohjaksi ja itse toivoin yllätystä, kunhan väriksi ei vain tulisi keltainen, punainen tai oranssi. Tästä tuli aivan ihana!

In the spring I won here in a blog competition a consolation price (missed my guess by just one!) and got one batch "cloutyarn". :)
I was asked what color I'd like to have as the basecolor. I wished for a surprise, just not red, yellow or orange. :) I love how this turned out!

Kyseisen langan neuloin heti pois, sain itselleni mukavat ranteenlämmittimet ja loput pari pätkää käytän oletettavasti tuohon tilkkutyöhön! ;D

I knit this yarn right away, I got myself nice wristwarmers and leftover two starnds I will be using to that quilt! ;D

Mutta nyt on hyvä hetki pesaista nopeasti pois villat ja painua nukkumaan. :)

But now is good time to wash wool and go to bed. :)

Pikaisesti värikokeiluista

Elikkäs olen myöskin kokeillut ensimmäistä kertaa elämässäni kasvivärjäystä!
Koska tilat ovat mitä ovat, eikä mökkiäkään ole (saati että olisi tässä ollut aikaa käydä missään mökeillä), niin kotona eteläikkunalla langat purkeissa muhivat.

So I've also tried for the first time in my life dyeing with plants!

And because the space is what it is and I don't have a cottage (not that I would even have had any time to go to any cottage), so the yarns have been laying in a glass jar.

Ensimmäisenä kokeilin keltasipulia ja punasipulia, jotka sain kaupassa töissä olevalta ystävältäni. Toiseen purkkiin lykkäsin lupiinin kukkia pohjalle (kun jostain lukaisin, että väristä tulisi sinistä), seuraavaksi itse lupiinin muuta ostaa, vähän puna-apilan kukkia ja lopuksi vielä puna-apilan varret ja lehdet. Halusin nähdä tuleeko eri värejä ja jos tulee, niin millaisia. :)

First I tried yellow onion and red onion, which I got from my friend that works in a grocerystore.

In the other jar I put some lupin flower in the bottom, next layer has the other parts of the plant, next one has flowers from red clovers and on the top other parts from the red clovers. I just wanted to see if there'd be giving different colors and if they did, what kind of colors. :)

Lopputuloksena oli jännää "kurkkusalaattia" ja pirtsakkuutta, sinistä tosin ei näkynyt vaan huuhdellessä väri muuttui vihertäväksi, vaikkakin todella kiva vihertävä. :) Puna-apilasta tuli todella kiva sävy. Langat olivat esipuretettu alunalla, sipulien kanssa oli luonnonvalkeaa Floricaa ja kukkasten kanssa vitiä King Colen Merino blendiä.

The result was groovy "cucumbersalad" and perkyness, no blue, though, think the color changed to green when rinsed. I still like the green it gave. :) Red clover gave a really nice shade of green. Yarns were premordanted with alum, with the onions were natural white Florica from Novita and with flowers pure white Merino blend from King Cole.

Ja samantien uutta purkkia täyttöön, tähän jäi sen verran koukkuun!

And filled new jar right away, this is really addictive!

Oikealla pohjalla taasen lupiinin kukkia. Osan nesteestä oli keittänyt jo viikon etukäteen, ettei vain jo aiemmin kerätyt lupiinit mene pilalle kun en heti kerennyt käyttää. Uusiakin kukkia löysin, vissiinkin uudesta sadosta, jotka sit kiehautin vielä nesteessä ja kaiken kippasin pohjalle.Ylemmäs kerrostettuna suolaheinää ja huvikseen heitin muutaman hiirenvirnan yhteen kulmaan, josko niistä jotain väriä tarttuisi! :D

In the jar on the right, yet again some lupin flowers in the bottom. Some of the flowers I had boiled a week advance so that the already picked flowers wouldn't have spoiled. Found some new flowers, maybe from new crop, that I boiled in the liquid and then put it in the bottom. On the top there's layered some sorrel and just for interes threw in few vetch flowers just to see if they give any color! :D

Vasemman puoleisessa kokeilen ensimmäistä ja viimeistä kertaa pietaryrttiä, olen näköjään sille hyvinkin allerginen. Päälle heitin hiukkasen keltasipulia, jotta koko lanka tulisi värjättyä, enempää en kyennyt kukkia perkamaan, sillä lopputuloksena olisi varmaan ollut täysin muodottomaksi turvonnut naama. Käsiin ei tullut mitään oireita, vaikka äidille nousikin hirveät vesikellot käsiin n. 10-15 min kukkien nyhtämiseen jälkeen.

In the left one is for the first and the last time some tansy, it seems that I'm quite allergic to it. On the top there's some yellow onion, so that I got color for the whole yarn, couldn't clean more flowers for then I would probably have ended up having my face swollen formless. Didn't get any symptoms to my hands, even when my mom got nasty blisters in her hands just about 10-15 mins after we had picked the flowers.

Tämä oli suurin piirtein parisen minuuttia sen jälkeen kun olin epähuomiossa silmää hieraissut. Onneksi helpotti muutaman tunnin aikana antihistamiinin jälkeen, mutta jatkossa keksin muita keltaisia antavia kasveja. :P

This was about few minutes after I had mistakenly rubbed my eye. Luckily it got better in few hours after antihistamine, but in the future I'll be coming up some other plants that give yellow. :P

Huhheijaa ja loma häämöttää

Kyllä se on vaan ollu rankka kesänalku. Olen tehny kesäkuun alusta lähtien 3 * 63 tunnin työviikkoa ja lämpötila töissä kohoaa näillä helteillä 40-50 asteeseen. Kovin on siis rajoittanut omaa jaksamista, vaikka muuten onkin aika vähissä työt olleet. Silti olen saanut paljon valmiiksi ja esivalmistellut jo tulevaa lomaa varten (enää 3 päivää töitä!).

It has been really tough start for the summer. I've done 3 * 63 hour workweeks since start of june and while we have this sunny weather here (which is actually really peculiar, usually finnish summer is said to be cold and with just little snow [old finnish saying]) so we have had abou 40-50 degrees centigrade inside. That has really limited my energy even when we have had just little work. In any case, I've actually done much and prepared for my coming summer vacation (just 3 more days!).

Eli kun kerran loma alkaa, niin silloinhan on varmasti myös intoa enemmän ommella! Ja kotona kun ei ole kunnon työtiloja (asunnon koko 29,5 neliöä) ja töissä vain vähän tekemistä ja sitäkin paremmat työtilat, niin mitä tein. No harrastin töissä leikkuuta!

I'll start with the preparetions.

So when vacation start, then there has to be more enthusiasm to sew! And I really don't have good working space at home (my appartment is 29,5 squares) and at work there only little to do and even better working space, so what did I do. I did some cutting at work!

Eli sain leikeltyä viime viikon aikana itselleni parit housut (housuista on aina pulaa),

So cut last week for myself two pairs of trousers (I'm always in need of new ones),

ja muutaman hameen, joista kaksi on täyskelloa. Tulin tuossa ajatelleeksi, etten ole koskaan omistanut kello hametta ja siitähän se hinku sitten iski. Tuo musta pohjainen on ihanan räikeä, toinen ei ole yhtään minua, mutta eiköhän sille käyttöä keksi. Enemmän se olikin kokeilu, että varmasti tulee oikean kokoinen kyseisellä ympyränsäteellä. :)

and few skirts, of which two are full circle skirts. I just happened to think that I've actually never owned a full circle skirt so I had to make one! The one with the black base is just wonderfully brash, the other one it's actually at all me but I think I'll find some use for it. It was more of a try, that the radius of the circle was just right. :)

Toissa viikolla myöskin iski hoksaus, että eih, eihän minulla ole edes mitään käyttökelpoista hametta. Siis aivan tavallista lyhyehköä farkkuhametta, jota voi pitää töissä. Caprit kun on aivan liian kuumat näillä keleillä. Teinpä siis pikaisesti hameen vanhoista farkuista.
Farkut olen ostanut kirpputorilta, hinta oletettavimmin maksimissaan ollut 2€ ku olen sen verran pihi, etten materiaaleista enempiä maksa. :D
Housut olivat myöskin miesten, mutta ei se mitään, sain näistä juuri mukavat, hiukkasen matalemman mallisen arkihameen, joka onkin ollut jo erittäin kovassa käytössä.

Two weeks back I came to think that, noooo, I don't even have any usable skirt. I mean just basic shortish denimskirt, that I can wear at work. Capris are way too hot to wear in this weather. So I made a skirt from old jeans.

The jeans I've bought from a flea market, so I think they may have cost max 2€ for I'm so cheap that I won't pay more for materials. :D

The jeans were also mens jeans, but no worries, I got comfy, little lowered jeanskirt for normal day use, just the way I like it! And it has already been in great use.

Olen myöskin edistynyt crazy quiltissani, mutta kertoilen siitä sitten toisella kertaa.

I've also progressed with my cray quilt but I'll tell about it some other time.

Nyt taas töihin, kohta enää kaksi päivää! :D

And now yet again to work, soon only two more days! :D

Värikästä juhannusta!

Olen viime viikkoina ollut varsin hyvin työllistetty ja sitä myöden hyvin väsynyt. Sen vuoksi ei oikein ole päivittelyä tullut tehtyä, vaikka mm. tilkkutyö onkin edennyt ihan mukavaa tahtia.

Last weeks I've been working hard and been really tired. That's the reason haven't updated much even if I've got among othet things my craze quilt forward in an ok rate.

On myöskin tullut erinäisiä hankintoja tehtyä ja uudenlaisia kokeiluja, mutta niistä sitten kun itsellä energiaa taas riittää.

I've also bought some stuff and tried other things, but I'll tell about those when I have more energy.

Kokeilinpas nyt sitten näitä keksejä eri täytteillä. 3 eri suklaata ja tietenkin Kick (entinen Käck). Tietenkin keksit olivat taas todella hyviä ja tällä kertaa tein kaksin kertaisen annoksen, että sain kaikkia täytteitä kokeiltua enemmän kuin muutaman palan verran.

Now I've tried the chocolate filled cookies woth different fillings. 3 different chocolates and of course Kick (soft liquorice toffee). Of course the cookies were really good again and this time I made double batch of dough so I could try all the fillings more than just few pieces each.

 

Lähtötilanne. Tietenkin taikina puuttuu tästä, mutta noin muuten. Vasemmalla ylhäällä fazerin sitruunajogurtti-maitosuklaata, oikealla ylhäällä yksi maraboun Daim-suklaapatukka (ei siis perinteinen daimlevy), vasemmalla alhaalla Kalevin mustikkavalkosuklaata ja oikealla alhaalla Kick. Suklaapalat laitettu puoliksi, Kick neljään osaan.

The starting point. Well without the dough but otherwise. Upper left there's lemonyoghurt milkchocolate, upper right one Daim-chocolatebar, lower left Kalevs blueberry whitechocolate and in the lower right Kick. The chocolate bits are cut in two and the Kick bars in four pieces.

Ja sitten pyöritellään palloja, herkkupalat tietenkin sisällä!

And then we roll some balls with the sweets inside!

Muutama minuutti uunia ja sitten onkin kasa valmiita keksejä. :)

Few minutes in the oven and then you have a nice pile of finished cookies. :)

Ainakin laku on tasaisesti levinnyt keksin sisällä ja ulos tursunnut osa on erityisen hyvää ja rouskuvaa vaikkei näitä kenellekään kehtaa tarjotakaan! :D

At least the liquorice has spread equally inside the cookie and the out gushed part is particularly good and crunchy even if these aren't really the ones you'd be putting out for the guests! :D

Nyt on kokeiltu ja saa taas "laillisesti" mässäillä hetken. Eiköhän sitä huomenna, tai viimeistään ylihuomenna, leivottua vähän fiksumpaa ja pyöräytän kasvis-fetapiirakan. :)

Now I've tried and can again "legally" devour for a second or two. Maybe tomorrow or latest the day after tomorrow, I'll be baking something smarter and will be doing vegetable-feta pie. :)

Jos ensimmäisenä kävisin hiukkasen läpi viime viikonloppua, eli vappua tietenkin! Ja kuten lupasin, niin vilauttelenpa hiukkasen ja näytän mitä ihmettä sitä tulikaan vetästyä taas niskaan töihin. :)

Niistä on pienet siivet tehty. :)

If I'de first go through last weekend, aka vappu(first of may) , which is blue-collar celebration day. So we dress up! And what did I wear to work, well these!

Metal hangers, pantyhose, glue, glitter, sequins, some lace and silkflowers leaves, that's what small wings are made of. :)

Olen myöskin tässä alotellut neuletta jos minkälaista. Jokunen viikko sitten tuli aloiteltua itselle kesätoppia hyvin marinoituneista (10-15 vuotta) langoista. Valkoinen väri nyt ei välttämättä ole aivan sitä ominta, mutta eihän siinä, voin värjätä sitten valmiina, jos ei valkeana tule käyttöön. :)
Ohjetta ei ole, mutta aloituksen silmukkamäärän katsoin Buttercup-topin ohjeesta. Toppi siis neulottu ylhäältä alas. Selän mallikerta lainattu interweave knits(spring 2011) Leaf and picot neuletakista.
Lähinnä keksin lisää sitä mukaan kun neulon, joten en vielä tätä enempiä tiedä, hihatkin vielä hiukkasen auki, ei ihan tuollaiset frillatkaan ole sitä ominta, mutta onpahan lankaa varattuna muutokseen virkatun päättelyn muodossa. :)

 I've also started some knits. Some weeks ago I started a summertop for my self from well marinaded (10-15 years) yarn. White is really not my color but I can always dye it when finished if I don't seem to be using the top because of the color. :)

I don't have directions for this, the stitch count was checked from Buttercup top. The top is knit from neck down. The pattern used on the back is borrowed from interweave knits(spring 2011) Leaf and picot cardi. I mostly knit as I please so I don't know how this will look from the hem or even if the sleeves will be like that. Ruffles are really not me either but at least there's some yarn to change it, if needed, in form of crochet cast off. :)

Aloittelin tässä myöskin uuden huivin (hyi hyi), kyllästyin topissa erään virheen korjaamiseen, jonka vuoksi en vielä pääse siinä etenemään. :D (Ai kuinka niin työt notkuu nurkissa...)
Noh, aloitinpa kuitenkin ja ihan kohtuullisella mallillakin tuo on jo, lähes neljännes tehtynä ja samalla sain tuijoteltua Game of Thronesin ensimmäiset kolme jaksoa. :)

I've also started a new shawl (bad bad me), I got bored in fixing a mistake in the top so I can't get forward with it. :D (Oh, what do you mean I have loads of knits hanging around...)

Well I started it anyway and have done it a good way already, almost a fourth finished and watched first three episodes of Game of Thrones while knitting. :)

Olen tässä myöskin leiponut, sekä yksin että äidin kanssa, ja nokkosiakin ensimmäistä kertaa napsinut lautaselle! Kerrankin ajoissa, yleensä hoksannut aivan liian myöhään!

I've also baked, both with mom and alone, and for first time picked some nettles to my plate! For first time in time, usually I've thought about it too late!

Tein tuossa torstaina ensin syksyisen puolukkapiiraan. Halusin käyttää pakkasesta vähän tavaraa pois, ja puolukoita näytti olevan hyvät määrät, ja ohjekin vielä murupohjalla, joten mikä sen parempaa!
Sen verran tosin muokkasin, että laitoin desin verran jauhoista rukiina ja veden korvasin ruokakermalla. :)
Ei kyllä uskoisikaan kuinka mainiosti tuo kaneli toimii yhteen puolukan kanssa, nams!

On thursday eve I made  first autumny lingonberrypie (only finnish, sorry). I wanted to use some stuff from my freezer and I seemed to have quite lot lingonberrys there and the recipe was with crumb base, so what could be better! I changed to recipe a bit, though, used 1dl rye flour and substituted water with cooking cream. You wouldn't even believe how well cinnamon works with lingonberry, yum!

Perjantaina sitten tein hiukkasen keksejä suklaasydämellä. Itse käytin tavallista kaakaojauhetta ja suklaana maraboun sesonkisuklaata, kookos-banaania. Ihania keksejä tuli! Ja ihanan helppo ohje, joten muokkautuu hyvin! Äiti tykästyi kekseihin tietenkin, joten teimme eilen uuden satsin, tällä kertaa käyttäen maraboun minttukrokanttia. Ja hyviä tuli!
Ääneen jo haaveilin kick, laku tai toffee täytteestä, tarvii jossakin vaiheessa kokeilla ja maistella. :)

On friday I made some cookies with chokolateheart (yet again in finnish). I used some normal cocoa, even when they used dark in the recipe, and marabous cocos-banana milkchocolate. Great cookies! Easy recipe and easy to change! Mom liked these also so we made a new batch yesterday and used marabous mintkrokant milkchoko. These were great too!

I've been dreaming out loud about using liqourice or taffy heart, have to experiment and taste some time. :)

Eilen teimme myöskin äidin pyynnöstä suklaisen juustokakun. Oli jokin äitin oma ohje, jota oli aiemminkin käyttänyt. Hiukkasen "mokasimme" ja pohjasta tuli hiukkasen lötkö, mutta oli sitäkin mukavampi syödä, kun ei ollu niin kovaa, että taltalla pitäisi palat irrotella. :)

Yesterday we also made chokolate cheesecake. It was some moms own recipe that she had used before. We "messes up" a little and the base was bit mushy but it was really nice to eat it when it wasn't so hard that you'd need a chisel to take a piece of it. :)

Tänään teimme myöskin nokkossämpylöitä ja hyviä tuli! Ei kyllä nokkonen maistunut mitenkään kovinkaan voimakkaalle, että ehkä sitä olisi voinut enemmänkin lisätä. :)

Today we also made some nettlerolls and they were good! The nettles don't taste that much so maybe we could have added some more of them. :)

Sitten tällaista pientä kysymystä. Onko tämä aivan normaalia?! :D
Nokkosten ryöppäysvesi oli sitten tämän väristä, äidillä oli tumman vihreää ja tädilläkin on aina ollut vihreää? Itse en keksi selitykseksi kun suolan, jota äiti ei käyttänyt, tädistä en tiedä. (Heitin pari pätkää lankaa joukkoon, halusin nähdä tarttuuko väri.)

Just a simple question wether this is normal?!

That is the water I boiled the nettles in, mom had dark green water and so has my aunt always had. I can't come up with any other explanation than the salt, mom didn't use, don't know if my aunt used ever. (I threw in few yarns to see if the color clung to it.)

Glada vappen, bara snapsen!

Viime aikoina kyllä tullut taas tehtyä kaikenlaista, mutta jotenkin ei vain ole kirjotuttanut, joten on bloggaaminenkin jäänyt syrjään. Tämäkin on nyt tällainen pikainen kuvaton höpönlöpö, mutta ehkä jotakin ajatelmat kiinnostavat. :)

Lately I've sure done loads of things but I just haven't got the inspiration to write, so blogging has been somewhere in the background. This also is just a quickie, pictureles nonsense, but maybe someone finds this interesting. :)

Itselleni olen aloitellut hyvin marinoituneesta (10-15 vuotta) puuvillalangasta lähes hatusta vetäen toppia. Valkeaa sellaista. Esittelen tarkemmin lähitulevaisuudessa.
Tämä ilta myöskin mennyt askarrellessa ja nyt koko asunto onkin varmaan iloisesti täynnä säihkettä ja välkettä, hileitä kun käsittelin. Eli huomiselle työpäivälle hiukkasen rekvisiittaa erään upean kirpparilta löytämäni hiuskorun pariksi. :)

For myself I've started a top from a really well marinaded (10-15 years) cotton yarn basically just going with the flow. A white top. I'll be introducing it in the near future.
This evening has also gone by while doing things and now the whole appartment is full of glimmer and sparkle, I've been using glitter. So I made some accesories for tomorrow after I found this gorgeous hairjewel from a secondhandshop to match with the accessories. :)

Tänään aloin myöskin itsekseni miettiä muotoa. Tarkemmin sanottua ruumiin muotoa ja vaatteiden muokkaavuutta kropan ollessa kyseessä. Kuten aiemmin olen jo maininnut, niin itsellä on vatsan seudulle tullut hiukkasen oman mielikuvan ylittävää kertymää, mutta olisiko kertymä tasaisempi, jos olisi käytössä olleet koko jotkin aivan toiset housut?
Korsetteja on iät ja ajat käytetty muokkaamaan vartaloa ja edelleen nykypäivänä, varsinkin tight-lacing harrastajat, muokkaavat kankaan ja luiden avulla vartaloaan. Tähänkin toivottavasti pääsen pienten kuvien kera pohdiskelemaan tuonnempana. Kunhan inspiraatio taas iskee. :D

Today I've also started thinkg about shape by myself. To be exact, the shape of body and how clothes shape the body. Like I've told earlier, I've started getting more to my tummy area than I like but would my figure and shape be different if I had been using fully different style of trousers all the time?
People have been using corsets for ages to shape their body and even now, especially thight-lacers, shape their body with fabric and bones. I hope I'll be getting to this too with some small pictures later on. When the inspiration arises. :D
